In lieu of an update this month, I give you this. Details on a presentation and panel discussion I am involved in this weekend as part of the 2009 WAMi Music Business Conference:

When:Saturday May 9, 3.45pm – 4.45pm,

Where:TAFE Lecture Theatre (Francis Street)

What: WA Music Industry Research presentation and panel, with Christina Ballico (honours researcher – ‘Regulating the Notes’) and guests.

‘Regulating the Notes’ is a study into the impact of government regulation on live music. Using Perth as the site of enquiry, this project has analysed the issue from the perspective of original contemporary musicians. Join Christina as she discusses the findings in relation to noise regulation and funding programs. Along with a panel of industry experts, this session will explore how have musicians been impacted by these regulations and the important role relationships play in determining the impact.

Conference registration is: $100/ $90 for WAM members. The conference runs from Friday May 8 – Sunday May 10.
